What's on the content tab

The Content tab is where you create store all your information in myPortfolio. Practically everything in there is private by default, unless it is displayed in a page or collection that you have shared. The help below will cover what can be created and how it is used.  Help on using each section also appears at the top of the page whilst using them, just click the "What, how see" button Screen Shot 2016-10-10 at 10.46.47.png

Below is a copy of the text that you'll see in the help sections of each page. Click on the drop-down arrows on the right arrows to expand the text boxes. 

Profile

What?
Your profile is used to contain basic information about you and can be seen by everyone at Solent. You also have the option of making it open to the public. You can change your screen name, add contact addresses and websites and a short bio about yourself. Once sections of your profile have been completed you are encouraged to go to your profile page and edit it to make it look good.

How?
Fill in the blank spaces with your details (your profile completion bar on the right will help you). If you get stuck, look for the ? icons as these will help you.

Profile Pictures

What?
The profile pictures area allows you to upload pictures that will appear beside your name in many places in the system. You may have up to 5 pictures in your profile pictures area at once. Your default icon will be shown to other people beside your name around the site, and you may use the other images in the pages you create.

How?
Use the function shown in the video below to upload a file - You may have up to 5 pictures in your profile pictures area at once. Pictures you upload must be at least 16x16 pixels and no greater than 1024x1024 pixels. The images you upload count towards your file quota.

Files

What?
This is your files area where you can upload your documents either for display purposes or for safe-keeping. You initially have 200MB of space, but this can be increased to 1GB on request (@LTU@solent.ac.uk)

How?
You have the choice of uploading a file or creating a folder. Folders can help keep this area tidy and is recommended. When uploading, tick the ‘Upload File’ box where a ‘browse’ option will become available.

Journals

What?
The journal tool allows you to keep note of your thoughts and reflections over a period of time. With each post you can attach a document, image or any other file you wish to share. You can have more than one journal (check your settings) and all journals are private until you publish them by putting them into a page.

How?
Setting up your journal is easy. If you can't see the 'Create Journal' button on the right then you'll need to switch to multiple journals. Go to your settings and select ‘multiple journals’. Once you’ve done that you can create a journal and add entries.

CPD

What?
The CPD tool (Continued Professional Development) is very much like a logbook. In it you can record hours that you have spent on a specific task such as volunteering, coaching or personal development training. It's to help you keep track of your progress and to record highlights of what went on. This tool is great when combined with your journal and a plan (see the other guides on this page). You can have as many CPD logbooks as you like.

How?
Just click on the 'New CPD' button on the right and decide what you will be using it for. Give it a title and description, then press save and start adding your content. This will all be private until you display it and share it in a webpage.

CV Builder

What?
This section is where you fill in your CV information such as your employment history, work experience, skills and qualifications. You also have the option of uploading files of evidence such as certificates and references to each item.

How?
Look for and click on the 'add', 'edit' and  icons and follow the instructions. The Employability and Enterprise team have a great support site that can help you to create great content. See their Skills page and their CV page.

Plans

What?
The plan tool allows you to create a number of plans to support you with a variety of projects. You can create a career plan to help you map out what you want to acheive by the time you leave Uni (think like a check list!).

How?
Click on the 'New Plan' button to create a new plan, then add a new task to it. Once you have done something on your list, you can go back into it and tick it off.
