What's on the portfolio tab

If the content tab is where you store 'your stuff', then the portfolio tab is where you display and share it. Here is where you create pages and collections of pages (like this one you're reading right now), that can then be published and exported.

As part of your course you may be given a portfolio to fill in/complete.

Throughout the various tabs you'll see the 'What, How, See' button that will help you complete sections of your portfolio (see right). Below is a copy of the text that you'll see in the help sections of each page.

Collections

What
A 'Collection' is a group of pages that have been linked together, creating a basic website (this helpsite with the navigation menu on the right is a collection).

How
In the Collection area you select the pages you want to be linked.  You will need to create the pages first before you can add them into a collection.  The pages can be rearranged in a different order if required.

If you are required to get a portfolio template to fill in as part of your studies, in the collections section there will be an option at the top to "Copy a collection". You will need to search for the correct collection (your tutor will tell you what this is), then copy the collection to make your own personal version that you can start editing.

The video below shows how to group together your pages.

Shared by me

What
You can choose who to share your pages with; a named individual, Solent students or the public. You can also share your work via a private weblink.

How
Go to the 'Shared by me' section and either choose 'edit access' or 'Secret URLs'.

'Edit access' will allow you to search for certain individuals and share it with them; this is useful if you wish your tutor to take a look.

Secret URLs: are used if you want to make your work more public.  you can send this link to anyone, or place it on a webpage.
